The bookstore at the IBM Information on Demand conference has been a very busy place this week. There is still time for you to pick up a book that you are interested in. The store is open Thursday from 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. You get a 20% discount on every book.
Are you curious as to what has been selling? I was and asked Alex the bookseller to find out. Here’s what he told me.
The biggest seller was Nate Silver’s book The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predictions Fail-but Some Don’t. There are a few copies remaining, but we expect them to be sold out by the time the store closes.
The next biggest seller was Sunil Soares’ latest book Big Data Governance: An Emerging Imperative. The store has sold out of Sunil’s book, so if you want a copy, you can find a good price on amazon.com.
I don’t have specific titles to mention, but the analytics titles and SPSS titles both sold very well.
Cognos books also sell well. This year IBM Cognos TM1: The Official Guide was the top Cognos book. Second on the list was preorders for the one that hasn’t published yet:
IBM Cognos Business Intelligence v10: The Complete Guide.
Finally, the book by Jeff Ma sold out already on Sunday: The House Advantage: Playing the Odds to Win Big In Business.
The bookstore is also the place where you can pick up free copies of the Flashbooks. We’ve run out of Dr. Arvind Sathi’s book Big Data Analytics. Follow my blog to learn how you can get a PDF version of this book.
We’ll be out of the 5 Steps to Business Analytics Program Success flashbook before noon on Thursday, if not before.
We still have plenty of copies of the Harness the Power of Big Data – The IBM Big Data Platform flashbook, but have already given out 4000 copies!
There are still copies of the two DB2 books remaining, so drop by to pick up a copy if this is your area of expertise.
- IBM DB2: The Past, Present and Future: 30 Years of Superior Innovation
- Warp Speed, Time Travel, Big Data, and more: DB2 10 for Linux, Unix and Window New Features
Lastly, the IBM Redbooks. Tuesday and Wednesday at noon, hundreds of copies were handed out. All of the titles that were brought have been given away, but there is still a bunch to hand out at noon on Thursday. See this blog entry Free printed IBM Redbooks at IOD
to see what titles were given away. Remember that all IBM Redbooks are free to download and can be read on your computer or tablet.
Thanks to all who came by to look and buy books this year. I hope you were able to find a book that helps you with your business needs. If there are topics that weren’t available, let me know and I’ll pursue with a publishing partner.
